The main pancreatic duct will back up with activated enzymes and they will eat and destroy all along the length of the pancreas. In the torso diagram, where the head of the pancreas is (torsos right side) Jerry has a knot that protrudes out of his abdomen. We were todl that the pancreas is swelling so large that it pushes out from under the stomach and that is what is causing the bulge.
