We went to the dietician. what a great thing toO!! we were feeding him to work around insulin and trying to feed him to MAKE the blood sugar levels right. NOT wrong back up .. we should be feeding him then working insulin to keep blood glucose levels right. DUH US. its soo hard to unlearn the ol atkins low carb lifestyle, and to feed feed feed the man. not that he didnt eat before.. OH he ate.. JUNK! and i was the atkins person. well, turns out he gets 75 carbs per meal!!!!! total of 284 per meal and 117 protein and 29g fat!! i swear to you id not be awake nor walking on that plan!! luckily its to put weight on him 2300 cal diet. jerry is at 144. The nurse kept saying he was too skinny.

for breakfast he has to have 2 starches, 2 fruit, 1protein 1 fat ,1 milk..

well this morning he ate one egg, and one toast and was belching and upset because he was so stuffed he hurt. theres no way he can eat all they ask. but he can work on it , as he gets better maybe he will tolerate the mass amount of food. lunch added 2 veggies to that pile above and DINNER!!!! total of 3 PROTEIN added!! its a 2300 cal. diet. they want him putting weight on and here im taking it off LOL. funny how opposites attact. tall/short fat/skinny/ ect..

BUT THE BEST THING OF ALL!!!!!! his blood glucose levels have been PERFECT ALL DAY!!!!! no up down and scare me to deaths!!!! its been a very good day today. he rode his HUGE old person TRIKE lol. and he went to the super walmart with me to shop for him (groceries). WOW 2 1/2 cups whole strawberries is alot to eat at one sitting!! he just shook his head.. said puree it maybe he can drink it. LOL!! Hes trying!

Sorry been a week now since posting, We have had a few good days and a few bad ones with his bloodsugars. the numbers are variant. Saturday he was 501 then up to 544! finally got down to 160. Saturday was our 20th wedding anniversary and what a way to spend it freaking over bloodsugar levels. lol oh well next years will be better! This Thursday we start his diabetic nutrition classes. Hopefully we can get him to understand carbs/protein/fats. This Friday our son turns 19! The incision is healing beautifully and he hurts but not like he did. what a difference two weeks makes! i cant wait until we can get him to keep between his ranges of 80-120 so he can move on with his life. right now our days consist of taking his bloodsugar level when he gets up/ giving him his lantus, eating breakfast/ taking bloodsugar before lunch/ eating lunch/ blood sugar before dinner /dinner and then bloodsugar before bed and a snack before bed. and watching the numbers and adjusting foods the best we THINK they need to be.
